At the recent "AI and Innovation in Radiation Sciences and Beyond 3.0 Symposium" hosted by Tung Wah College, Clement, CEO of ZERO Biotech, delivered a keynote presentation exploring the evolution of targeted radiopharmaceuticals and the expanding role of artificial intelligence in radiation sciences.
Clement opened the talk by detailing the core principles of Radioligand Therapy (RLT)—a precision treatment combining targeting molecules with therapeutic radioisotopes to find and destroy cancer cells while sparing healthy tissue, resulting in a significant reduction in adverse side effects compared to traditional treatment.
He emphasized how artificial intelligence is accelerating the entire radiopharmaceutical landscape on Drug Discovery: Established tools like AlphaFold2 are revolutionizing molecular design and target identification. In the broader radiation science sector, the potential application of AI can enhance Personalized Dosimetry and Patient Selection.
Clement encouraged students, researchers, and clinicians in the audience to actively embrace AI tools, noting that combining computational strength with radiopharmaceutical expertise is key to the next generation of cancer therapies.
Translating Research into Clinical Impact
While global venture capital continues to invest in robotics and healthcare AI, recent multi-billion-dollar M&A transactions in the radiopharmaceutical sector demonstrate strong confidence in theranostics. Clement emphasized that translating scientific research into clinical reality requires private-sector funding alongside government policy support.
Looking ahead, ZERO Biotech will continue to uphold its mission of "Shaping the Future of Cancer Care through Cutting-Edge Nuclear Medicine" to actively advance the clinical translation and commercialization of radiopharmaceuticals across the Asia-Pacific region. We look forward to partnering with stakeholders from all sectors to co-create the next chapter of precision medicine, bringing hope and a brighter future to more cancer patients.
